Siemens AG received a notice from the US government that it has lifted the export restrictions on chip design software for China.
According to Bloomberg, Ximen said it has restored access to all software and technologies to Chinese customers. Westmen and the U.S. Department of Commerce have not responded yet.
In May this year, the U.S. Department of Commerce Industry Safety Agency (BIS) required many companies, including Westmen's electronic design automation (EDA) department, Cadence and Synopsys, to obtain permission before exporting design software and semiconductor chemicals to China.
Electronic design automation software (EDA) refers to the design method that uses computer assisted design (CAD) software to complete the functional design, integration, verification, and physical design of ultra-large integrated circuit (VLSI) chips, including layout, layout, layout, design rule inspection and other processes.
EDA software is one of the basic constructions of semiconductor industries, and its main manufacturers include American IHP, Synopsys Technology and Westmen.
