Why do clothes become yellow and have a strange smell? The family responsibilities recommend cleaning 3 key points before storage

In daily life, we often put away the clothes we don’t wear at any time. But many people may have discovered that the clothes they took out after hiding for a while, even though they were washed cleanly, they still had yellow or strange smells.

These situations seem to be inadequate, but there are clear reasons and solutions behind them. Why do clothing become yellow? How to deal with it correctly to maintain whiteness and freshness?

Family master pointed out that these problems often stem from the long oxidation of invisible sweat and sebum left by long-term oxidation, which causes clothes to become yellow and smelly. In order to effectively prevent this situation, it is recommended to clean it before storage.

The following are three key cleaning principles, which can help prolong the life of clothing and maintain the quality of clothing.

1. The clothes you have worn must be cleaned and then stored

Even if you wear them for a short time, it does not mean that the clothes are clean and unrestrained. Although the sweat and sebum discharged by the human body are transparent, they are easily left in the depth of the fiber.

After being placed for a long time, these invisible dirt will be combined with the oxygen in the air, creating an oxidative reaction, causing the clothes to flush and have a musty smell.

Therefore, even if you only wear it once, you must clean it and then store it to avoid the problems of yellow spots and strange smells.

2. It is recommended to use 40℃ warm water to wash sweat-absorbing clothes.

Many families are used to wash clothes with cold water, but for summer clothes with a lot of sweat and sebum (such as T-shirts, shirts, skirts, etc.), it is recommended to use 40℃ warm water to wash them.

Because sebum is oily and fat, cold water is difficult to clean it thoroughly. Warm water can effectively activate the enzymes and interface active agents in the wash and improve dehydration. Just like cleaning oily tableware with warm water, it can be cleaned in place.

If the washing machine does not have a heating function, it can also be directly mixed with cold water in the water dragon head to adjust it to about 40°C temperature water, put it in a bucket or basin for use, for soaking clothes or as washing water, which can also improve the cleaning effect.

3. Clothing with yellow spots or strange smells is suitable for soaking and washing treatment

If the clothes are already slightly yellow or have a difficult smell to remove, you can first perform "soaking and washing" treatment. The method is:

1. Fully dissolve the scented powder laundry in warm water at about 40°C

2. Soak the clothes completely for about 30 minutes to 1 hour

3. Then wash them with a normal procedure machine

This method not only helps remove yellow spots, but also removes the smell and sweat dirt from the depth of the fabric, so that the clothes can be fresh and clean.

In addition to cleaning before storage, clothes taken out of the cabinet during the season may also be stained with dust, odor of the cabinet or slightly yellow due to long-term storage. It is recommended to clean it before wearing it to ensure that the clothes are clean and breathable, making it more comfortable and safe to wear.
