18-year-old Chelsea new aid Estewan was interviewed by the media and talked about topics such as the fierce confrontation in the Premier League, the confrontational mentality on the field, and the influence of his father on himself.
The Premier League is known for its fierce physical confrontation. Are you confident in adapting to this?
"Of course, I know I need to build a stronger, more confrontational physique at some stage, but I don't worry too much about it. There will be a thorough process to achieve this goal, but I know what I can bring to the court, my traits, my ability to play. Strength is not always a decisive factor. I firmly believe in my potential."
You never seem to be afraid of making mistakes on the court, where does this strong mentality come from?
"This comes from my father. He always tells me, 'Never stop being yourself'. If I make a mistake in the game, I don't have time to get in trouble. You only have a few seconds to react because any time the ball can come back to your feet again, you have to be ready to do something with it.
My father has been instilling in me the idea that it is to stay focused and trust your intuition. If there is room to pass one-on-one, I will be there. If the better option is to pass, I will pass. I will do what I know and what I am trained to do. I know what I can do, I know what I have inside. That's why mistakes don't affect me. I trust what I believe, and I will keep trying until I succeed."
How did your football path open?
"(my father was the former goalkeeper) It was him who brought me into the sport. Since then, I went almost anywhere and never left my feet, even going to his father's church. I would imagine myself playing in a stadium. I would take the ball over anything in front of me. I used a bottle as a goal, shot hard against the wall, and I even broke a clock! That childhood imagination was incredible."
