Many pet owners like to keep pets and pet them when they get home. The hearing range of dogs far exceeds that of humans. Their ears are sensitive, delicate and delicate organs. So what’s going on with puppy ears? Let’s take a look!
1. Vigorous exercise
Dogs do not have sweat glands, so they often dissipate heat through the pads of their limbs, ears, and panting tongues. Especially when dogs exercise vigorously, the temperature of their ears will rise to a certain extent, but when the dog rests for a period of time, the temperature will naturally drop. This is a normal physiological condition, so the owner does not need to worry too much.
2. The ambient temperature is too high
If the ambient temperature of the puppy is too high, the heat in the body cannot be dissipated well, which will cause the ears to become hot. At this time, the owner needs to move the puppy to a cool and ventilated place in time, and prepare clean drinking water for the puppy to prevent the puppy from heat stroke. After the puppy has a good rest, it will naturally return to normal.
3. Fever
If the puppy is not only hot in the ears, but other parts of the body are also very hot, and is accompanied by symptoms such as listlessness, loss of appetite, and dry nose, it may have a fever. At this time, it is recommended to measure the puppy's rectal temperature. Insert the mercury thermometer into the anus until the mercury tip is submerged. The duration is 1 to 2 minutes. The puppy's normal body temperature is 38.5-39.5. If it exceeds this temperature range, it means that the puppy has a fever. It is recommended to take the puppy to the pet hospital for examination as soon as possible to find out the cause of the fever and then treat it symptomatically to avoid delaying the condition.
4. Ear canal infection
Infections in the ear canal of puppies can also cause ear fever, such as otitis externa, otitis media, mites, fungal infections, etc., and may also be accompanied by redness, swelling, itching and other symptoms. It is recommended that the owner observe carefully. If you find that the puppy often shakes its head or scratches its ears, you need to go to the pet hospital for examination as soon as possible. Generally, you need to clean the ears first, and then instill anti-inflammatory drugs for treatment.
