The Athletic reported that Roma is committed to signing Manchester United winger Sancho on loan, but the deal is not small.
It is reported that Rome has made a offer to Sancho, but both parties know that the transaction is difficult to complete. Roma is also negotiating to loan Aston Villa player Leon Pele to strengthen the team's offensive choices.
Sancho has other options in England and Europe, and he had planned to look at these opportunities before making his next decision. His contract with Manchester United expires next June, with options that can be extended for one year.
Last season, Sancho was loaned to Chelsea, making a total of 42 appearances, contributing 5 goals and 10 assists. The lease agreement contains a mandatory buyout clause: if Chelsea buys Sancho for £25 million, the clause will take effect. The clause was triggered in April this year when Chelsea's ranking in the Premier League was ensured not to fall below No. 15. However, Chelsea did not agree with Sancho on personal terms, but chose to pay £5 million to send him back to Manchester United.
Sancho is one of the five first-team players excluded from Manchester United's pre-season roster, with the other four including Rashford (who has joined Barcelona on loan), Maracia, Garnacho and Anthony. Earlier this summer, after coach Amorin and other first-team members left Carrington training base, the club required the players to register for training after 5 p.m.
Sancho has made a total of 83 appearances for Manchester United. His last time for Manchester United was in the 2024 Community Shield Cup against Manchester City. In the 2023-24 season, due to a public dispute with the then-head coach Ten Hach, he only played for Manchester United three times, and was subsequently excluded from the roster and returned to Dortmund on loan in January 2024.
Roma ranked fifth in Serie A last season, and under the leadership of new coach Gasperini, they will participate in the UEFA Cup this season.
