Manchester City had briefly considered introducing Liframento, and now they will look for other options

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester City had no intention of bringing defender Liframento from Newcastle, and they are considering other options in this position. After Kyle Walker joined Burnley, Manchester City briefly considered using the 22-year-old Liframento as a solution, but instead of giving a offer this summer, they turned their attention to other players. After qualifying for the Champions League, Newcastle eased their concerns about the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and planned to provide Livramento with a long deal to ensure he stayed at St James’ Park Stadium.

Although Manchester City had been interested in the England U21 international, they have never given a formal offer and have no such intentions at present. Manchester City's focus is now on handling players' departures, with Nunes and Rico Lewis being competent for right-back positions. In the second half of last season, when Walker was loaned to Milan, they were the right-back. In addition, center backs Stones, Akanji and Husanov can also play guest-game right-back when the team needs it.

Walker spent most of his career at Manchester City as right-back and was appointed captain before the 2023-24 season started, but he sought to play in Milan in January this year after tensions with Guardiola. Although Milan decided not to execute the £4 million buyout option, Burnley eventually became Walker's next home, coach Scott Parker hoped to use his experience, and the two had worked together at Tottenham.

This summer, Manchester City has spent £111 million on signings and may also sign goalkeeper Trafford from Burnley. If Ederson joins Galatasaray, the 22-year-old Trafford will be Manchester City's first choice goalkeeper.

More players are expected to leave Manchester City, and Calvin Phillips, Gallish and McCarthy are likely to go to other places to play. McCarty has attracted attention from other European leagues and Premier League clubs, but high salaries of Phillips and Gallish may be a barrier to transfers, with the former having a weekly salary of £125,000 at Manchester City and the latter having a weekly salary of £300,000.
