In the English League Cup, Newcastle defeated Tottenham 2-0 at home and successfully advanced to the next round. After the game, Newcastle coach Eddie Howe praised the team's performance and admitted that he made eight adjustments to the lineup.

Eddie Howe said: "I am very satisfied with the attitude of the players. Although we did not completely control the game, the overall performance was very positive."

"I made some adjustments, and I am always a little worried about how the new combination will perform. But from the first minute, I felt that the team was in very good condition. From a physical point of view, I think they performed very well. Many players usually don't have many opportunities to play, which reflects their professionalism and self-management ability."

"When we make adjustments like this, we want to see a performance that meets our expectations. I thought the guys' press and overall attitude during the game was really good."

"Whatever adjustments we make, we want the team to perform It’s Newcastle’s style. The most important thing is that from the first minute, our attitude was very correct and we were determined to win.”

Finally, Eddie Howe also specially praised Tonali’s performance, saying that his performance in the midfield was a masterclass. "Tonali's performance was outstanding, he was full of energy and performed very well both with and without the ball. His contribution to the team is gratifying because he has been plagued by illness before. It was the right decision to let him play today and I am very happy."
